National Grid Teacher Advisory Panel

These teachers lend their expertise to the development of National Grid’s educational materials and teacher outreach program.

Susan O’Connell teaches 3rd grade at Rosendale Elementary School in Niskayuna, NY. She has an MA in elementary education and certification in English for grades 7–12. She is a trustee (board member) for the North Greenbush Common School District, and has been teaching for 20 years.

Kelly Hall teaches Engineering and Technology to grades 3–5 at the Richer School and New Elementary School in Marlborough, MA. She has an MA in education and is certified in Elementary and Middle School Science. She is looking forward to developing a new STEAM curriculum for her school system during the 2020–21 school year.

Amy Lauer teaches 7th and 8th-grade science at Fredonia Middle School in Fredonia, NY. She is a member of the National Science Teachers Association. She is a New York State Master Teacher Emeritus from the Western Region and a National Board of Certified Teacher. She has taught for 17 years.

Cheryl Beck has taught all grades, but primarily 4th, in Oswego, NY since 1999. She has coordinated and facilitated the NY State Science and ELA tests for a number of years, and coordinated and led her district’s New Teacher Mentor Program since 2005. She has also taught Professional Development in literacy best practices for district teachers. She works as a Literacy Coach at the Oswego Middle School and is part-time adjunct professor at SUNY Oswego teaching pre-service teachers. Her love for teaching and passion for helping all students succeed has been the driving force in her career.

Amy Steiger teaches 4th grade at Crisafulli School in Westford, MA. She has an MA in reading, is an adjunct professor at Merrimack College, and has served on multiple task committees in her school district. She has taught for 15 years.

Amy Elsworth teaches 3rd grade at Lake Avenue Elementary in Saratoga Springs, NY. She has taught for 17 years.

Lisa Markham has been a building-based educator in Lawrence, MA for 3 years at Parthum Elementary school. She has been teaching for over 17 years, and has worked in all grades K–4, including life skills and with Autism spectrum disorder. She has an M.A. in Elementary Education and Special Education.

Carrie Munella has taught for 30 years in Buffalo, NY, as a primary grades classroom teacher and as a Gifted and Talented program instructor. She is a former committee member for the Western New York Invention Convention, and has worked with pre-service teachers at Buffalo State College on projects presented at Buffalo State’s PDS Conference.
